How we
Work

The way we measure quality in meeting our client’s requirements is by working with our client to set project goals and milestones into our production process before we embark on any project.

We keep ourselves accountable to this process and work collaboratively with our client to meet the project goals and milestones we set out.

This process can be upscaled for bigger projects or downscaled for faster turnarounds – we can flex our production process to suit our client’s needs.

Our Production
Process

Define the brief
We work with our client to clarify the brief, video requirements, key messages and goals to be achieved through the video project. Here, we delve into what video we need to create, what audience we’re talking to, what messages will resonate with this audience and what are the client’s key messages are to be communicated through the video.
Creative development
Here, we put together the creative approach for the video. We’ll write the video treatment and the creative concept for video, we’ll also create a storyboard, write the scripts and recommend talent. In the spirit of collaboration, we’ll have regular check-in sessions with the client during this phase and will only proceed to the next phase of the production process once our client is happy with the creative approach.
This is the stage where we’ll start taking production action by creating the shotlist and production schedule, organise legal clearances, as well as book our travel, talent and locations. All these details will be captured in a call-sheet, which we’ll circulate with the client, crew and cast so that all stakeholders are provided with the same details needed for phase 4: production.
This phase involves the filming / principle photography of the video. Our crew travel to the location to film the shots outlined in the shotlist. Where possible, we aim to have our client on set with us to approve of shots as they are captured.
Offline editing
We will work with the client to get the composition of the footage, audio and music (offline edit) approved.
Online editing
Once the offline edit is approved, we’ll commence with the colour-grading, graphic effects and audio mixing to create the final video asset.
Delivery
We will render and deliver the video project in the various formats and technical specs needed to suit the channels the video will go live on.

Working in
Collaboration

Working in collaboration with Māori
When including Māori people, messages or perspectives, we consult with a variety of our Māori connections to ensure we stay true to what is respectful and promotes the Māori tikanga in a positive way. Where possible, we include people speaking te reo and provide English subtitles.
Working in collaboration with LGBTQA+
Growing up, working in the TV industry in South Africa, Byron worked closely alongside people from the LGBTQA+ community. Particularly, Byron was a co-presenter with a dear friend, Sade Giliberti - an activist for the LGBTQA+ community. We actively encourage and support our team to be kind to people from all walks of life and to have a strong core sense of community and manaakitanga towards everyone.
Working in collaboration with people with different abilities
Throughout our filming experience, we’ve worked with people who have abilities different from our own. We ensure we create a filming environment that is supportive of their abilities and treat everyone we work with, with the utmost respect. We are proud to have worked with a South African medal-winning swimmer, Sibusiso Mogale, creating promo and inspirational videos with him.
